Few days back, I got a golden opportunity to get rid of monotonous daily life and rejuvenate myself for a new beginning. So, without wasting time, I packed my rucksack and proceeded for a trip of lifetime.
I started my journey from Delhi, the epicenter of my life and reached Kanha National Park, that lies in Madhya Pradesh. The grassy meadows, meandering streams and lush forests of Sal and Bamboo trees greeted me with open arms. After viewing these dense forest, now I understand why Rudyard Kipling wrote his English Classic "Jungle Book", keeping in view the beauty of this Indian National Park.
Kanha National Park is one of the finest national parks of India and spread across Banjar and Halon valleys in the Mandla and Balaghat districts in Madhya Pradesh. This national park is home to diverse flora and fauna and to get a glimpse of these rare collection of Mother Nature, I stayed in the Kanha Jungle Lodge for 3 days.
As the name reflects, this serene lodge is located amidst the dense Sal forest, just 1 km from Mukki entrance of the park. I was really overwhelmed by the friendly behavior and warm welcome given by the staffs. They had arranged delicious meal and helped us to get accustomed with jungle environment.
I must admit, the first day of my sojourn in this lodge was really memorable. With the onset of dusk, the stridulations of crickets left me sleepless that night. Next morning, after having breakfast we moved for jungle safari with a travel guide. He introduced us to the various wildlife species residing in this park. Some of the mammal species which I noticed during my safari were Bison, Gaur, Sambhar, Barasingha, Monkeys etc.
My first two days of tour were not so exciting as I could not spot a single Tiger. But my third day in Kanha National Park was not disappointing as I came face to face with a ferocious Tiger. Even as I recall the incident, I thank my stars for letting me be in the right place at the right time. A Tiger was languidly sprawled in the middle of the road, its distinctive strips spots glistening in the soft light of morning sun. As the moment was really wonderful, I was overjoyed with the feeling of triumphant. I also captured some stunning images.
Truly this rendezvous with Tigers in Kanha was delightful and will always remain in my memories.
